Every person might have experienced insect bites in their life. The insect bites are of various types like spider bites, mosquito bites and flea bites. The itching area has to be treated properly in order to prevent any type of infections. Itching can be treated with pink calamine lotion as it proves to be effective for itching. Benadryl cream is also available in the market which can be used for treating itching. The finger nails should be cut to avoid the chances of increasing the risk of infection. A cold wash cloth can also be applied on the affected area in case of burning or stinging. Insect bites normally have redness and swelling on that particular area, but spider bites have bit larger area of swelling which may increase the risk of infection. The pain and burning sensation caused due to large spider bites can be decreased by applying ice on that area. If the redness and itching increse it is better to see a doctor to avoid any complications.

The injured area can be washed properly with warm soapy water.

Equal quantities of water and hydrogen peroxide mixed well can be applied on the affected area.

An antibiotic ointment can be applied on that area.

Spider bites are the larger bites that leave a visible pin point bite and create redness on that particular spot for many days. The itching area is more painful but not all the time. Flea bites are more common on legs and are less painful at the time of bite. But the itching gradually increases creating inconvenience and pain. The park areas or the houses who maintain pets are the common places to get flea bites. Mosquito bites often occur on the exposed parts of the body like hands, ankles, neck or forearms.

The types of insect bites and stings because of insects is a common issue resulting in swelling and redness. As soon as an insect bites a person, the bite injects venom which consists of proteins and this triggers to an allergic reaction in that particular person. Unless and until a person provokes, an insect never bites or attacks him or her. Bites or stings from some particular species like bees, yellow jackets or hornets cause severe allergic reactions to a person who is sensitive to them. Some times these stings even lead to death of a person. Fire ants inject their venom many times. Different types of mosquitos spread viral diseases like dengue and yellow fever. Prompt treatment for insect bites in necessary to avoid future problems and it is better to protect ourselves from these insect bites as far as possible.
