There's few things worse than to find a tick embedded on your
family dog.
A tick bite on a dog can become infected and can also cause
diseases.
There are going to be times when your loving pooch is going to go
outside if only to use the restroom and do his business. Ticks can
attach themselves on the dog and dig themselves in a place that your
dog can't easily get the tick off. Ticks get on your dog and attach
them selves firmly as they start to feed on your dogs blood. You'll
notice that after a tick gets attached to your loving pet, it
continues to get bigger and bigger. That's because the tick is
actually digesting your dogs blood.
Getting a tick dislodged from a dog should be done with great care
and you should use gloves when removing the tick for your safety. The
tick itself has sharp jagged edged barbs on its mouth and will attach
themselves securely to the skin and can be very hard to remove. You'll
want to purchase a quality pair of tweezers or use some that you
already own to remove the tick from your loving dog. When removing the
tick off of your precious canine, be sure that you get the entire tick
removed as to lesson any chance of infections to the dog.
You'll want to make sure that as you remove the tick that none of
the blood that the tick has already ingested gets back into your dogs
system as this may cause an infected tick bite. Grasp the tweezers
firmly in your fingers and firmly attach the tweezers to the ticks
head and upper body and pull the tick away from the dogs body. You'll
want to make sure you dislodge the tick completely from your dog to
ensure none of the tick remains.
As soon as you have the tick removed from your dogs skin, wash the
area with a good disinfectant and make sure there are no longer any
parts of the tick that remain. You'll then want to apply a good
antibiotic salve like you would any ordinary cut you or a loved one
may have. When you are completely sure that tick has been successfully
removed, wash your hands and disinfect the tweezers so they'll be safe
to use again.
You'll want to evaluate your dog for a couple of days after the
tick is removed to make sure it is acting okay and your dog doesn't
get ill from the bite.
