Infected Tick Bite

One of the worst things you'll encounter when it comes to your loving dog is to find out it has a tick on it.

Even worse will be when you realize that the tick bite your dog has is an infected tick bite

Ticks are found in just about all wooded areas, grass and even in your backyard. The perfect scenario is that your precious pooch never goes outside and a tick won't find it's way onto your pet to bite and attach itself to your dog. Unfortunately though, most dogs have to go outdoors even if it's to go to the bathroom and do its business. If you find your loving pet has a tick on them, what do you do? The first thing you'll want to do is to make sure the tick gets removed as soon as possible. It takes a full 24 hours for a tick to give your precious canine any number of the variety of Lyme diseases that are associated with ticks and tick bites on dogs.

You'll want to be careful and remove the tick with a clean and sanitized pair of tweezers. First, put on a pair of gloves for your protection and then grasp the tweezers in your hand and put the tweezers over the tick's head and his upper body. Pull down and remove the tick from your dogs skin. You'll also want to make sure you get all of the tick removed from your pet and make sure none of the tick remains.

After removing the tick from your dogs skin, clean the area with a good soap and then apply a antibiotic salve to help in preventing an infection. If you find any redness at the bite site or notice any changes in behavior with your dog within the next 24 to 48 hours, take your dog to your local veterinarian and have him treat him with an internal antibiotic.

Infected tick bites can cause infections in the blood stream that effect the blood cells and can then effect your loving pet's lungs, kidneys, liver, spleen and even your animals nervous system. Make sure you have your dog treated by your favorite veterinarian so your dog can fight off the infection internally and won't contract any of the same symptoms that your dog has in the next few weeks.
